The story
Why PazAlone exists.
Trouble cannot always be prevented.
But something can be done so that it does not go unnoticed.
The idea for PazAlone came from my own life. I have been travelling the world since I was nineteen and never felt the urge to be on the phone all the time. Often it was not days but weeks or months before I got in touch — that was never easy for my family.
The world of large industrial projects is different from the way it looks from the outside. In a foreign country you are not a tourist: you work, you adapt and you are often vulnerable. Ten- and twelve-hour shifts, unfamiliar cities, rented flats.
There was a colleague whose life ended alone in a flat like that. We pulled ourselves together — “that is what this profession is like” — and carried on.
But life teaches, and if we do not understand, it repeats the lesson. It became more personal when my mother, over eighty, fell at home and could not get up. She could not reach her phone on the table either, and nobody heard her calls.
Fortunately my brother looked in a good ten hours later, found her and helped her. That is the only reason she was able to tell us afterwards what had happened — what she went through, her thoughts, her feelings, her fear as she lay on the floor for half a day, growing weaker.
That was when I truly understood how important it is that someone finds out in time when help is needed.
And as a father I now worry about something else as well: as my daughter begins her independent life, she will spend more and more time alone, away from home.
But PazAlone is with her now too.
Everything can be replaced. The people we love cannot.
Personal safety is more than technology.
It is responsibility, love, trust and looking out for one another.
For us, trust matters more than loud promises.
That is why we at PazAlone do not use scare tactics, do not manipulate and do not promise anything the app cannot guarantee. We explain clearly what the app is able to do and how to use it most effectively.
Not every misfortune can be prevented — no one is able to do that.
But we help to make sure that when something does not go to plan, the silence does not go unnoticed.
A quiet background
PazAlone is a quiet background.
When everything is fine it stays unnoticed, and on most days nothing happens.
But a single occasion is enough to make it matter: whether there was a plan in advance, whether you were able to let someone know, and whether anyone noticed in time that something was wrong.
If something happened to you or to someone who matters to you, who would notice — and when?
