Frequently asked questions
What is worth knowing about PazAlone.
The most common questions and answers.
If you do not find what you are looking for, write to us on the Support page.
Does PazAlone replace 112 / 911?
No.
If you are able to call your local emergency number, do that first.
PazAlone is a safety net that notifies the trusted contacts you have provided — it does not automatically notify the police, the ambulance service, or the fire service.
Use PazAlone as a quiet companion that lets your circle know if something seems off, not as a substitute for emergency response.
How does the daily check-in work?
You set a check-in interval (24 hours by default; adjustable on the Standard and Pro plans).
Every time you tap “I’m okay”, the timer starts again.
If the timer expires without a check-in, your trusted contacts are notified by email — and on Pro, by SMS.
What is WatchMate?
WatchMate is a short, timed safety companion for situations where it's good to know that someone will know where to look for you — for example while running, on a first date, walking home, travelling, or hiking.
You state what you are doing and roughly when you expect to be finished.
If you arrive safely, you simply stop it — in that case nothing is sent.
If you don't check in on time, we notify your trusted contacts with your last known location.
How does the red emergency slider work?
The red slider is your manual emergency alert.
Activating it bypasses every timer.
It immediately sends an emergency alert by email — on the Pro plan by SMS as well — with your last known location to your trusted contacts.
After a stand-down, your contacts also receive a 'situation cancelled' message so they know they can stand down too.
What is the emergency alarm?
In an emergency you can start a loud alarm with a siren and a flashing light.
The alarm is meant as a deterrent and runs until you stop it.
Stopping it requires your 4-digit panic code.
If the code is wrong, the entry is cleared and you can try again — there is no automatic lock-out.
If you forget the code, tap 'Forgot?' on the alarm screen — your code is emailed to your registered email address.
PazAlone does not automatically notify the police.
The purpose of the siren is to deter and to draw the attention of people nearby.
How does PazAlone use my location?
We do not track you in the background.
Location is used only during an active WatchMate session or after an emergency alert — to share your last-known position with the contacts you have chosen.
As soon as you cancel the alert or stop the WatchMate session, no further location is collected.
What types of trusted contact are there?
When you add a contact, you choose what they receive: missed-checkin notifications, manual 'check on me' notifications, and / or emergency alerts.
You can edit each contact's preferences at any time in the App.
After major personal-life changes, review and update your trusted contacts and your panic code promptly.
What is the difference between the Basic, Standard and Pro plans?
Basic covers the essential safety features.
Standard adds more profiles, more flexible settings, and broader protection options.
Pro includes the most profiles and the advanced features.
You'll always find the current prices and exact plan contents on the app's subscription screen and at pazalone.com.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. For the first 7 days PazAlone can be tried free of charge, and during that time the features of the Pro plan are available: 10 trusted contacts, 10 Safety Vault profiles, WatchMate, FallGuard and adjustable intervals. The exception is SMS notification — that works only with an active Pro subscription, not during the trial. The trial period alone does not count as a subscription and can be cancelled at any time.
Can I cancel a false alarm?
Yes.
To cancel an active alert, use the “I am safe now” function.
Your trusted contacts receive a cancellation message so they know everything is fine.
We still recommend reaching out to anyone who saw the original alert to reassure them in person.
Who responds to alerts?
PazAlone notifies only the trusted contacts you have chosen — for example friends, family members, neighbours or colleagues.
How they respond is entirely up to them.
Choose people who are reliably reachable and are likely to respond to a safety alert.
Keep their contact details up to date.
What happens if my phone runs out of battery, loses its connection or goes offline?
Timers run on our servers, not on your device, so a missed daily check-in still triggers a notification to your contacts even if your phone is off.
WatchMate works in a similar way: the timer keeps running on the server.
If your device is unable to send the stop signal before the time runs out, the system notifies your contacts with your last known location.
Although PazAlone is built to work reliably, battery, network connection, and operating-system limits can affect how notifications work.
I have forgotten my panic code or I have a new phone — how do I restore access?
Open PazAlone on the new (or reinstalled) device, tap 'Lost or changed my phone' on the welcome screen.
Enter your registered email address and your 4-digit panic code.
If the details match, the account can be restored on this device, including your trusted contacts.
If you have forgotten your panic code, tap the “Forgot your code?
Send me a new one” option.
We will send a new, random 4-digit code to your registered email address — the previous code becomes invalid immediately.
What is a gift code or a redemption code?
A gift code can be given to you so that someone can offer you a subscription as a present.
Redemption codes may be issued for promotional, testing or press access purposes.
Open Settings, tap “Redeem gift code” and enter the code you received.
The account is updated immediately.
Codes can be used once and, after redemption, are permanently linked to the account.
What happens after the trial period or the subscription ends?
If you do not subscribe before the trial ends, your account is suspended: trusted-contact notifications and check-in alerts are paused.
We keep your data until the account is reactivated or deleted, so that the subscription can be resumed at any time.
The subscription can be reactivated at any time or continued with a redemption code.
We send a reminder by email 24 hours before the trial or subscription ends so nothing is a surprise.
Why might a notification not reach my contact?
Many things outside our control can delay or block a message: a wrong email address, spam or junk filters, do-not-disturb / focus modes, low battery, airplane mode, factory reset, network outages.
It is also possible that the contact does not see the message in time, does not read it or is unable to respond to it.
PazAlone supports a human safety net — it is not a guaranteed emergency service.
Choose contacts who are likely to be reachable and to respond when needed.
If the situation is urgent, do not wait for PazAlone — call your local emergency number directly.
How can I delete my account?
In the Settings menu, tap “Suspend / delete my account”.
The account becomes inactive immediately: check-in alerts and notifications to contacts stop. Data stored on the server can be restored for 30 days, after which it is permanently deleted.
Within those 30 days the account can still be restored using the “Lost or replaced phone” process.
Once the deadline has passed, restoration is no longer possible.
Privacy — what data do we collect and share?
Only what is needed: account details, your settings, your trusted contacts, and event-based location (only during WatchMate or emergency alerts).
We never sell your data.
We do not use advertising tracking or behavioural analytics.
The website does not use cookie-based analytics or tracking.
For the full picture, see the Privacy Policy in Settings.
What is Founder Membership and the loyalty bonus?
Our first 10,000 subscribers receive Founder Member status. A subscriber is someone who has purchased a paid subscription; the free trial period alone does not count as a subscription.
The status and the membership number are shown on the Settings screen, on the “Your plan” card.
Among our first 10,000 subscribers, every hundredth annual Standard or Pro purchase (the 100th, the 200th and so on) receives a free year of Standard — automatically, by email, in the order of successful annual purchases.
Does my contact know that I have added them?
Yes.
When you add someone as a trusted contact, we send them a short message on your behalf.
The message tells them that you have chosen them as a safety contact, that they will only be contacted in an emergency, and how they can let you know if they would rather not take part.
You manage your contacts — we do not add or remove anyone on your behalf.
If someone would rather not take part, we let you know so that you can update your list.
What is FallGuard and how reliable is it?
FallGuard uses the phone's motion sensors to watch for a sudden fall while the app is open and the screen is on.
If it detects a fall, a short countdown starts.
If you do not respond, your trusted contacts are notified.
Important limits:
Accuracy differs from device to device, so FallGuard is not guaranteed.
With the screen locked or switched off it does not count as reliable protection.
Please test it on your own device before you rely on it.
FallGuard is not a medical device.
What is the Safety Vault?
The Safety Vault is a safe place for important information, documents, and emergency notes — such as a medication list, documents, contacts, or instructions for home.
The contents of the Vault stay on your phone; we do not send them to a server.
You can keep several profiles, depending on the plan you have chosen.
An emergency sheet in PDF form can be created from the sections you select and forwarded using your phone's sharing function.
